Stag Beetle Insect Jewelry Earrings in Sterling Silver & Copper

These handmade, etched & oxidized, copper & sterling silver earrings celebrate the wondrous Stag Beetle! Stag beetles are relatively large beetles known for their majestic "antlers" (actually mandibles,) which only the males possess. The "antlers" are used in brave displays of strength and endurance to win over the hearts of their prospective mates -- much like... you guessed it... stags!

After preparing the art for this design, I used an acid bath to etch the artwork deep into the copper plates. The copper plates and sterling silver components were then soldered together using good, old-fashioned silversmithing techniques . The completed earrings were then hand patinated, then polished again to bring out the copper's gorgeous, bright copper glow.

These are made-to-order, so please allow 1-2 weeks for completion.
